Daily Schedule


A day in the life of one of our kindergarten students

9:00 School Starts Children come and change into play clothes(by themselves) and put on their outside hats. The children go outside and play until 9:40. If it is raining the children watch a video or read a book.

9:40 Clean-up time The children clean up all the scooters, sand buckets shovels and other fun toys.

9:45 Exercise All the children line up and go through various Japanese calisthenics. Then music is turned on in the playground and all the students along with the teachers make laps around the playground

10:00 Morning meeting and Activity time During the morning meeting all the students are greeted and attendance is taken. The students are asked about the weather, date and other general topics. During activity time the students learn various songs and dances as well as participate in an assorted variety of Arts and Crafts.

11:20 Lunch time All the students eat the same lunch together with the teacher. As they are eating lunch the teacher utilizes this time to review material they learned during the day and also to find out how the students are doing. Foreign teacher has lunch break.

11:55 Story time The teacher reads differents stories to the children such as "The Ugly Duckling", "Cinderella" and etc.

12:00- 12:30 Quiet time

12:30- 14:00 Japanese lesson and Vocabulary During this time the teachers review old vocabulary and introduce new vocabulary as well. During this time a Japanese teacher teaches Japanese songs, harmonica, math, hand bells etc.

(12:00-13:30 Nap time Our younger students take a nap during this time.)

14:00 Exercise During this exercise time all the children get together and play games.

14:30 Change back into their uniforms

14:45 Snack time

15:00 Goodbye Meeting During this time the teachers review the day's activities, distribute notebooks, read stories and sing songs. (Notebooks are a daily journal that kindergarten teachers and parents use as a communication tool.)

15:25 School ends The children either get on the bus or their mother comes and picks them up.

13:30 The regular school day is finished.
